Bicentennial Youth Art Contest

The contest is now CLOSED. The winner will be announced in May 2021.

Last June, Indianapolis kicked off the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of our city. As part of this milestone celebration, the Indianapolis Bicentennial Commission was seeking youth art and design submissions from Indianapolis/Marion County Students (Grades 6 – 12).

Designs were reviewed by members of the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council. The winning submissions will be used (along with the Official Bicentennial Logo) for Bicentennial promotional materials, public displays, and more.

What were we looking for?

The Commission was seeking original designs created by Indianapolis/Marion County Students (Grades 6 – 12) that can be adapted for use as a Bicentennial design. These submissions may be used for posters or memorabilia in celebration of our city.

What were the guidelines?

All submissions should be inspired by one of the four Bicentennial themes:

  • History (i.e. A historic location, event, or person that represents Indianapolis)
  • Civic Pride (i.e. What makes you feel proud about Indianapolis? This can be your neighborhood, your school, your favorite sports team, or a unique event that is special to our city)
  • Innovation (i.e. How can we make Indianapolis better?)
  • Legacy (i.e. How do you imagine Indianapolis 100 years from now?)

What’s the Prize?

$1,000 prize with half as a 529 contribution.

How to Submit:

Students (or their Parent/Legal Guardian) can submit their design/artwork using this webpage.

The deadline for submissions was Sunday, February 21st at 11:59 PM.
